Residential
Size
600 SQFT

2 Bedrooms
Nestled within the coastal tranquility of Ma On Shan, this Double Cove residential project is a masterclass in blending high-stakes professional precision with the fluid artistry of a creative soul. Designed by MAD Studio for a young professional in the Hong Kong banking industry, the home serves as a peaceful sanctuary where the rhythmic strokes of Chinese calligraphy and the sensory ritual of specialty coffee brewing take center stage.
The design language is a refined fusion of Mid-century Modern warmth and Nordic minimalism (Japandi-inspired), utilizing a rich palette of walnut timber and cream textiles to create a sense of grounded luxury. Throughout the open-plan living area, herringbone oak flooring draws the eye toward the expansive balcony views, while bespoke floating consoles transition seamlessly into delicate display areas for the client’s calligraphy tools and art scrolls.
In the heart of the home, the compact kitchen design has been reimagined with warm wood cabinetry and sleek stone surfaces, creating a dedicated station that elevates the daily coffee ritual into a form of art. This intentionality carries into the private quarters, where the master bedroom features custom integrated joinery with soft arched detailing—a subtle nod to classic architectural forms that provides a gentle contrast to the home’s clean, modern lines.
The bathroom renovation offers a final, spa-like retreat, characterized by vertical subway tiles in an earthy clay tone and complemented by brushed bronze hardware. By balancing disciplined geometric forms with organic textures and soft, integrated LED lighting, this Double Cove Starview apartment reflects the dual nature of its inhabitant: analytical yet creative, contemporary yet deeply rooted in tradition. It is a home designed by MAD Studio Limited not just for living, but for the quiet appreciation of life’s slower, more meaningful moments in the heart of Hong Kong.
