Kiu Hing Mansion

High above the bustle of Hong Kong, this 1,120 sqft home in a 60-year-old building was transformed into a peaceful family retreat—framed by Victoria Harbour and filled with soft light and quiet intention.

The original layout felt confined, with rooms disconnected and natural light underutilized. We opened up the plan to create a spacious living and dining area that celebrates the harbour views. Walls were removed, windows embraced, and materials carefully selected to evoke calm: warm-grained oak, off-white tones, and hand-applied microcement.

We redefined the arrival experience by introducing a proper foyer—complete with a lowered ceiling, custom shoe cabinet, and a built-in bench—separating the city from the calm interior within. A discreet, wood-clad alcove off the entry conceals a laundry area and leads to the helper’s quarters, quietly integrated into the home’s flow.

At the heart of the apartment, the open kitchen and dining space were designed for family connection and casual gatherings. A breakfast bar bridges the two, while oak finishes continue throughout the U-shaped kitchen, offering generous storage and built-in appliances.

The living area feels open and grounded, its atmosphere shaped by curated details: earth-toned rugs, potted greenery, and travel keepsakes from the homeowners. Exposed beams—once concealed—are now part of the design narrative, adding structure and texture above.

A new oak-panelled feature wall subtly conceals the entrance to the master bedroom, allowing the space to feel uninterrupted and intentional. Inside, soft lighting, custom sconces, and seamless transitions into the en-suite create a sense of calm. Twin vessel sinks and kit kat tiles add both charm and functionality.

The child’s bedroom is playful yet adaptable, with built-in carpentry and splashes of colour. A cozy guest room completes the home, offering flexibility for visiting friends and family.

Throughout, the design balances openness with intimacy, softness with strength. Every element—from layout to lighting—was crafted to create a sense of ease and belonging.
