BANYAN GARDEN

The Beginning of Home

A first home carries a particular kind of anticipation: the freedom to shape a place together, and the promise of all that will happen within it. For the young couple at Banyan Garden, that beginning called for warmth. They imagined a cosy interior with timber at its heart, a place that would feel welcoming from the moment they moved in.

The design takes its emotional cue from this wish. Timber brings a reassuring presence, its grain and tonal variations lending depth to a gentle material palette. The emphasis is on tactile comfort and an intimate scale, allowing the home’s character to emerge through surfaces encountered every day. There is a quiet pleasure in these familiar details, in the warmth of wood close to hand and the softness of light across it.

In the bedroom, fine vertical panelling gives rhythm to the backdrop, balanced by the simple horizontal line of the bedside surface. The composition feels calm and considered, with greenery introducing an organic counterpoint. A few everyday objects complete the setting, leaving room for the couple’s own possessions to gradually become part of the interior.

This sense of openness to life is central to the home’s appeal. Its warmth provides a foundation for the rituals still to come: slow weekend mornings, evenings spent together and the small habits through which a new space becomes familiar.

At Banyan Garden, the design gives a first home a gentle beginning. Timber, texture and thoughtful simplicity create an atmosphere the couple can settle into and make their own. Over time, its deepest character will come from the life they build there.
