VSA’s Student Lounge brings the warmth of a living room into the spaces between lessons. Daylight washes across pale timber and soft upholstery, while a gently stepped arrangement gives the room a sense of depth and occasion. It is a place to settle, exchange a few words, or simply let the day slow for a moment.

MAD Studio composes the lounge through layers. A generous sofa anchors the central area, with smaller upholstered forms introducing touches of vivid blue and yellow. On the raised perimeter, paired seating and compact tables offer more intimate settings, while a long upholstered bench and timber ledge create another way to occupy the room. The level changes define these relationships without enclosing them.

Warm neutral walls and speckled surfaces add a tactile background. Small wall lights bring a domestic scale to the seating, and a broad timber ceiling feature echoes the softened edges below. Planting and the open glazed frontage connect the interior to the light beyond, balancing the more sheltered corners.

The commercial interior design is attentive to the informal life of the school. Different postures and kinds of gathering find their place within a coherent whole, from sitting together on a sofa to meeting over a small table. The result is a shared retreat with an easy generosity, shaped around the value of time spent between scheduled things.
