PAC RECEPTION, VSA

The sense of occasion begins before the performance. At VSA’s PAC Reception, sweeping curves, a deep blue floor and a softly illuminated ceiling create a gathering space with a quiet theatrical presence. MAD Studio approaches the reception as an experience of arrival, with room to meet, wait and take in the work on display.

Large concentric ceiling forms establish the room’s flowing geometry. Below, a sculptural timber bench describes a generous arc, drawing people into the space while maintaining an open centre. The relationship between these elements gives the interior a clear sense of unity: ceiling, furniture and movement appear to belong to the same gesture.

Pale finishes keep the composition light, allowing the rich carpet and a bold red wall to provide depth and emphasis. A discreet refreshment area is integrated into the surrounding cabinetry, while the reception desk continues the understated timber language. Along the perimeter, framed works and display plinths turn the wall into a gallery, making the passage through the room part of its cultural life.

This expression of commercial design balances ceremony with everyday use. Integrated lighting lends the larger forms a delicate edge, and the open arrangement welcomes both individual visitors and groups. The atmosphere carries a gentle anticipation: a room where conversations gather, creativity is visible, and the next event already feels close.
