VSA’s Secondary Library gives reading and shared inquiry distinct yet connected settings. Warm colour gathers around the collaborative areas, while the broader library opens into a light-filled landscape of books and informal seating. The atmosphere is mature, approachable and open to different ways of spending time with an idea.

An orange ceiling and golden floor establish a warm centre for group learning. Large organic lighting shapes soften the overhead plane, echoing the rounded tables below. Bookshelves and a presentation screen sit within the same composition, and a long window-side bench offers a relaxed alternative to conventional seating. Daylight adds another layer, changing the room’s character as the hours pass.

Beyond this setting, white-painted exposed services give the main library a more expansive feel. Green carpet islands gather lounge chairs into small reading groups among the shelves, introducing a gentle sense of enclosure without interrupting the openness. The entrance continues the balance of warmth and clarity through pale timber, a green arched door and softly glowing pendants.

MAD Studio draws on the adaptability of modern classroom interior design while preserving the library’s particular invitation to linger. Across its different zones, the project accommodates both conversation and absorption. It is a place where a discussion can lead back to a book, and a solitary discovery can become something shared.
